Chenille, soft yet durable, is ideal for upholstery fabric. Chenille means "caterpillar" in French and has a dense and fuzzy feel to it. This designer fabric with its characteristic look can be used equally in a Living Room or a Family Room because it is so versatile. Solids, textured patterns, stripes, checks and plaids abound from manufacturers including Duralee, Kravet, Robert Allen and Schumacher.
Cotton, rayon ,polyester and acrylics are used to make chenille. Cotton chenille is often woven with linen and polyester and has a rich and luxurious texture. Polyesters are well priced and often have a velvety sheen to them.
